Ex-post assessment of IPM solutions tested in Grapevine in experimental stations and farms and updates of database of alternatives to pesticides and IPM solutions

This report presents the first results of ex-post assessment using DEXiPM Grapevine for innovative tested IPM solutions. The results of the tested scenarios of IPM solutions are presented and commented per country and region : France – Mediterranean area and Atlantic area, Germany, Italy – North eastern, Po valley and Tuscany. Several IPM solutions have been tested in each region.

These first results have been provided by ex-ante DEXiPM Grapevine reviewed version. In this version, further tools for ex-post assessment have been proposed in order to be more powerful or a good addition:

- Cost/Benenfit approach calculations;

- Synops for eco-toxicity criteria assessment;

- Use of expert knowledges and stakeholders inputs.

The current model does not yet reflect the psychology and marketing mechanisms of the viticulture of the different regions (ex : Germany and French Mediterranean region of Languedoc). It might work if the price for wine would be rational and measurable. But in fact it is irrational and not measurable. By this every winery has an individual marketing situation depending not only on cost-benefit parameters of the production side but also on the public image of a grower, a vinery, a vineyard or a variety.

We need further improvements of the model. Even if the comparison of the different regions is not an objective, the question that we could ask in the next month in WP6 is: how far can we use a generic model and when are necessary the regional adapted versions ?
